For The Best 04:18
Well, I can wrap my head around it, but my heart is not quite there yet. Oh, I do what I must and I just need to trust that these choices I make are for the best. Yeah, these choices I make are for the best. Oh, my dear baby boy, you fill my heart with joy, every time you look at me and smile. And my dear sweet girl, you are my whole wide world, so I’m sorry I won’t see you for a while. Sometimes Mama has to do some things that make sense to me but maybe not to you Well I promise you this, it is my heart’s true wish, that you understand I do it all for you. So, I can wrap my head around it, but my heart is not quite there yet. Oh I do what I must and I just need to trust that these choices I make are for the best. Yeah, these choices I make are for the best.

I’m sittin here by the fire, got my eyes on that door. Oh I’ve been waiting here all night long But I know he ain’t coming ‘round no more. Oh and it’s times like these, when I feel so all alone, My thoughts they drift to times with you And I want to pick up that phone… And say if I asked you today to come and take me away What would you do? What would you do? Oh and it’s times like these When I feel so all alone in my own home Yeah my thoughts they drift to times with you And I want to pick up that phone… And say if I asked you today to come and take me away What would you do? What would you do? Say if I asked you tonight to lay right down by my side What would you do? What would you do?
3.
Steps 03:29
I don’t need to tell you why I take the steps I take I know I’m responsible for every move I make And I don’t need to explain who I really am to you Fact is you know much less about me than you think you do… And I don’t need to tell you why my heart does what it does Can’t it be enough for you that I am so in love? And I don’t need to explain why I feel the way I feel I can just assure you that its every bit as real… I know I don’t need to but I might if you’d just ask me to my face But instead you choose to judge me from a far off place So I don’t need to tell you… I don’t need to tell you why I do the things I do Why do you care when they’ve got nothing to do with you? And I don’t need to explain why I am the way I am You’ll just have to trust I’m always doing the best I can…
4.
Oh I did my best to make this less hard from the start And though mine was breaking all along I tried to spare your heart But I can’t hold all this blame Here, you can have some back, and with it take your name When I told you we need help you told me it was me That if I could get right with myself we’d live in harmony So I took your advice Didn’t turn out quite so nice, but now I Thank you for finally showing me you don’t deserve my heart’s energy I spent too many nights praying you’d be alright When it’s clear you don’t care about me Oh it’s clear you don’t care about me Oh, it’s taken me this long, but I’m ready to move on, and now I Thank you for finally showing me you don’t deserve my heart’s energy I spent too many nights praying you’d be alright When it’s clear you don’t care about me Yes, you’ve made it clear you don’t care about me.
5.
There’s a sadness in her eyes that only time can take away And no matter how you try you know there’s nothing you can say To make it better, no you cannot make it better And there’s a method to her sadness only she can understand She is grappling with the fact that she just does not need a man To make it better, she herself must make it better Well, she’s now free, and there’s no doubt in her mind that this is how it’s supposed to be Though she’s on her own, she knows deep in her heart that She’ll never walk alone She’ll make it better. And she takes it day by day ‘cause that ‘s all that she can do And she knows she’ll find a way she can safely sail through And make it better, yeah she knows it will get better And when all is said and done she will have dealt with all her pain ‘Cause she knows that once she does she can be happy once again And she’ll be better, but it takes time to make things better Well, she’s now free, and there’s no doubt in her mind that this is how it’s supposed to be Though she’s on her own, she knows deep in her heart that She’ll never walk alone She’ll make it better.
